Brook Jeremyah Benton (Lansing)

Mr. Brook Jeremyah Benton, son of Brenda G. Benton born December 10, 1985 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Brook had a light that illuminated far beyond a room, but filled your heart with appreciation, affection, and most important, love. Brook went to be with the Lord on November 17, 2018 in Lansing, Michigan.

Brook was a very intelligent, beautiful young man. He loved to read and could debate any subject with the best of them. He always had dreams, but at times just couldn’t figure how to get there. He seemed to rush things at times and was often side tracked, but he meant well.

To know Brook was to love Brook. Even as a young boy, he was a jokester’s jokester. He and his brother Jerome were inseparable and more like twins. Brook had a big heart to a fault. He would give his last dollar to anyone in need often putting others before himself. His love of family was undeniable. Even in the hardest of times, he knew his family loved him and would be there for him.

Brook had an affinity for kids. Loving his nieces and nephew nourished the father in him. Having his own children developed the nourishment to fruition. He leaves behind his daughter Delilah and son Harley. He cherished his relationships with them and was heartbroken upon returning to Michigan. He continuously focused on re-uniting with his family until his last breath. We could see and feel his pain through the separation of him and his children. His love will forever be implanted in them.

Brook had an unwavering belief in God. He often spoke of his faith and attaining something greater than us all. As one of God’s promises, Brook has found the peace in eternal life as he rests with God, family, and friends that have gone before him.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children, Delilah Benton of Florida and Harley Benton of South Carolina; parents, Robin J. Benton, Brenda (Ed Reid) Benton; grandparents, Jerome Benton, Nellie Blue; sisters, Tamara (Ralph) Williams, Robyn Benton: brothers, William Walker, Collin Benton, Isaiah Benton: nieces, Myah Walker, Maliah Williams, Makenna Williams, Aubriella Benton, Symone Benton, Nevaeh Benton: nephew, Eddie Walker: aunts, Jean Gould, Karen (Lee) Richardson, Marcella Alecia, Sheila Norman, Stacia Benton: uncles, Kim Norman, Terry (Yolanda) Wilkes, Mark (Cathy) Benton: and many other devoted cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by brothers; Jerome Benton, Roman Benton; grandparents, Harley and Arcelia Norman; uncles, Doug Wilkes, Gary Wilkes, Vaughn Wilkes, and Edward Norman.
