Bruce Jones (Lansing)

Mr. Bruce Jones went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 10, 2020 in Lansing, Michigan. Age 67 years. He was born April 27, 1952 in Camden, Alabama to Ben and Ceola Jones.

He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Amos Smith at St. Emmanuel First Missionary Baptist Church. Bruce loved attending Sunday School. His favorite teachers were his uncles, the late Deacon Riley Watson and Deacon Arnold Watson.

Bruce attended Cannon Bend and Camden Academy for his primary education. On May 24, 1970, he graduated and received his High School diploma from Camden Academy. After receiving his diploma, Bruce moved from Camden, Alabama and relocated to Lansing, Michigan, where he became a long-time resident. Shortly thereafter, he gained employment with General Motors Corporation, where after 30 years of dedicated he was able to retire. Bruce was also an avid University of Alabama and Michigan State University sports fan. He also loved to watch golf.

Bruce was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, cooking, exercising, and going back to his hometown to visit.

He leaves to cherish his children, Kimberly Jones, Aaron (Ferrante) Jones; grandchildren, Derrick Hartwell, Jr., Kassidy Murchison, Arielle Jones, and Aaron Jones, Jr.; two sisters, Vivian Jones and Linda (Julius) Davis; two brothers, Sam (Gina) Jones, Edgar (Ardella) Jones; and best friend, Ralph Wheeler.

He was preceded in death by his son, Derrick Hartwell, Sr.; grandson, Amir Jones, parents; one sister, Diane Jones; one brother, Larry Jones.
