Sister Callie Mae Mims went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 17, 2011 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper. Age 65 years. She was born January 23, 1945 in Union Springs, Alabama to Rosevelr and Willie Mims Sr.
Callie confessed Christ at an early age at Second Baptist Church in Thompson Community. She attended Carver High School in Union Springs, Alabama. She came to Saginaw in 1964 and united with Galilee Baptist Church and later became a member of New Life Baptist Church where she remained for 25 years under the leadership of Pastor Rufus Bradley Sr. She retired from General Motors Truck and Bus.
She loved cooking, singing, sewing, fishing, playing cards, bingo and working puzzle books, also spending time with her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory 3 children, Willie (Doralia) Mims, Rodrick (Amy) Mims, Heather Mims (Niecy); six grandchildren, CeCilia, Kishna, DeVonte, Montrea, Patricia, Rodrick (R J); 4 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings, Thomas (Susie) Mims, Lillie (Soloman) Marlow, Ann Hope, Calvin Mims (Twin); many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special cousins, Rosemary Pickett, Pastor Nathaniel Calhoun, Johnnie Mae Burt, Johnnie (Betty) Williams, Henry Feagin, and special friends, Diane Daniels, Betty Walker, Mary Townsend, Ann Brown, Leanda Jamerson, Ethel Young, Ular Cameron.
Callie was preceded in death by her parents, Rosevelr and Willie Mims Sr.; one sister, Mattie Harrison, one brother, Willie Mims Jr.; one special cousin, Mae Harris.
