Carla Shannon (Lansing)

Our beautiful, blessed, wonderful mother, daughter, sister, niece, and friend Carla Jean Shannon departed with the angels on Sunday, May 10, 2020, at the age of 49.

Carla was born on October 29, 1970, in Memphis, Tennessee to Gene and Lois Benson. She attended Mumford High School in Mumford, Tennessee. Carla’s relocated to Lansing, Michigan as a teenager, where she graduated from Everett High School in 1989. Later, Carla would again relocate back to Memphis, Tennessee where she began her career with the Nike Corporation until her health began to fail, and the loss of her husband Mark Shannon. This transition in her life brought her back to Lansing, Michigan and closer to her family especially her sisters who were her heartbeat and best friends. Carla joined Tabernacle of David when she finally returned home with family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, 2 children; Markita Shannon of Memphis, Tennessee and Mark Shannon, Jr, of Lansing, Michigan; parents, Lois (John) Porter; three sisters, Miranda (Faye) (Kenneth) Hinton, Taquana (Damion) Morris, and Deonidre Benson, all of Lansing, Michigan, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, along with special friend Chenier Morgan.

Carla was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Shannon; father, Gene Benson; and countless other relatives and friends far too many to name.
