Carol Jean (Jauan) Davis was born December 7, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Robert Simms, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Davis.
Ms. Davis completed her education in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to Saginaw in 1972 to accept a job with General Motors Corporation (Chevrolet Grey Iron Foundry). She was a member of UAW Local 668. She excelled quickly and became a Foreman, and later a Committee Woman. Carol took classes at Delta College to further her education. In the early 1970s, she joined Saginaw Scanners CB Club and traveled to many states. Known as Lady Buckeye, this is where her purpose for community outreach began.
Carol took an early retirement to work with Betty Martin to establish the Restoration Community Outreach program. It was her lifelong dream to serve others in the community; this led to her employment at the Odyssey House and her work in mental health. Because of her generous heart, and desire to serve, Carol was one of the first grandparents in the Grandparents Program with Saginaw Preparatory Academy where she served for 15 years. She was a firm and devoted believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and served as an Evangelist, strengthening her faith, and becoming an ordained minister.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Simms Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Davis, son, Mark Davis, daughter, Jauan Davis, and grandson, Dennis Davis.
She leaves to celebrate her memory children Donald Simms, Roswell, Georgia, Sharon Simms, Patricia Davis, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, Katherine (Ernest) West, Leon (Denise) Davis, Karen (Brian) Thomas, Anthony Davis, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Angela (Nathaniel) Harris, Marietta Georgia; grandchildren, Latoria (Karl) Harris, Lashawna, Antuan Davis, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Ebony Davis, Charlotte, North Carolina, Brandon Harris, Saginaw, Michigan, Najee, Traejan, Sierra Harris, all of Marietta, Georgia, Lamarr (Angelik) Shacks, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Brian Thomas, Muskegon, Michigan, Shawnte Willingham, Lawrenceville, Georgia, Onjulee (Alexander) Wooten, DeShawn Willingham, LaDawn Willingham, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, Marcus Thompson, Leon, Rodell Hayes, Qontae Mayes, Antinia Davis, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Tia Foster, Kennesaw, Geogia; 16 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara (Stephen) Simms, Robin Dean; brother, Clarence Simms, Cincinnati, Ohio; many other loved ones and friends, including special friends Frances Davis, Lois Sims, Rodell Craft, Minnie Buford, Louise Hayes, Pastor Charlene Washington and Pastor Mary Lucas.
