Ms. Carolyn Ann Horrison passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper. Age 74 years. She was born on July 14, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee to Willie and Clemmie T. James.
Carolyn was raised by her grandparents. She accepted Christ at an early age at Nonconnah Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. Carolyn attended Geeter High School in Memphis, graduating in the 1960s. She relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in 1967 and began working in the healthcare field as an aide. In 1972, Carolyn started working at General Motors (Chevrolet Grey Iron Foundry) and was a member of UAW Local 668. She retired from General Motors. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where she served in the Usher and Kitchen Ministries under leadership of the late Pastors W.D. Hankins and Robert Harris. Carolyn loved to cook for others, talking with everyone regardless of their age, and she really enjoyed spoiling everyones children.
She leaves to cherish her memory her companion, Donnie Horrison; one sister, Cecile R. Harris, Memphis, Tennessee; many cousins including L.C. (Katherine) Moore, Saginaw, Michigan, Annie Ruth (Joe) Pierce, and Emma Jean (Stan) Roberson; other relatives and friends; special friend, Sue Lipsey, who was like a sister, and her beloved dogs, Hansel and Gretel.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Clemmie T. James, grandparents, Sidney and Alice Robinson, and Mr. & Mrs. Willie James, Sr.
The family would like to express special thanks to Doris Jones and Peggy Prince for being good friends before and during Carolyns illness.
