Carolyn (Lansing) Jones-Mitchell

A little brown baby girl with sparkling eyes was born on December 17, 1962 in Albion, Michigan. Carolyn Marie Jones was born to Charlie Joe and Elma Marie Jones. She was the fifth child born to this union. She was lovingly accepted by three sisters and one brother. She accepted Christ as her personal savior while a young girl and was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church in Albion. She attended Sunday School and participated in various youth ministries.
Carolyn attended the Albion Public Schools and graduated from Albion Senior High School in 1981. She also attended Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, Michigan. Having older sisters and brothers, Carolyn was always able to find someone to tag along with in the neighborhood. She was always ready to go! After receiving her driver license, she was happy to be the appointed driver.
Carolyn worked for the State of Michigan for several years. She later was employed by Auto Owners Insurance Company, where she worked for over 25 years.
Carolyn was introduced to travel by her parents, who are originally from the great state of Texas. This meant that summer vacations would surely include a scenic drive of 2,000 miles to her grandparents homes in Texas. She enjoyed travels to California to visit paternal grandparents. As a young adult she enjoyed travel to many scenic tourist attractions with family and friends.
She and her husband, Michael, enjoyed traveling across the country and outside of the USA, especially the Bahama Islands. Carolyn also enjoyed movies, music, reading, writing poetry and cars. Carolyn published several of her poems in 2012, Poems in the Key of Life.
Carolyn exchanged time for eternity on Thursday, October 13, 2016. Her memories will be cherished by her loving and devoted husband, Michael L. Mitchell; parents, Elma Marie Jones-Young and Rev. Charlie Joe Jones, stepmother Mittie Jones; brother, Rev. Derrick D. Jones; three sisters, Cheryl Y. Jones, Denise D. Turner, and Debra J. (Larry M.) Wray; two sister-in-law, Charmane (Marcus) Dewalt and Chizuyo (Joseph) Kurtz; and one brother-in-law Dion Mitchell. Her step-children, Kiki, Kisha, Jeremy, Ryan and Stephanie, and many other relatives and friends.
Carolyn is preceded in death by grandparents, Annie Lee Jones, Dionysious J. Jones, Ruth L. Jones, Walter & Alice Jones, and mother in law, Mary Lou Mitchell.
