Minister Carolyn Reynolds-Tatum (Lansing)

Minister Carolyn Reynolds-Tatum passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 85 years. She was born Monday, November 21, 1938, in Columbus, Ohio. The daughter of Essie Allen and Harley RJ Renolds. 

 

Minister Reynolds was a member at Tabernacle of David Church in Lansing, Michigan. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

 

She was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from East High School. She attended Franklin University to study business administration and Ohio Dominion College to study religion, writing, and English. She received a minister’s license from the Ohio District Council of the PAW, Inc. in 1994 in Columbus. She has been certified as a volunteer with Hospice of Columbus. Also, she attended school for interior decorating. She was very creative and would make curtains for her daughter’s bedroom. She also made banners for many people and clothing for her daughters.

 

In Lansing, Michigan, Carlyn earned recognition for attending Mount Hope Bible Training Institute while volunteering with the prison ministry. She also attended the Morris Cerullo Video School of Ministry in Michigan. She has earned credits with Word to the World Bible College (formerly Marilyn Hickey Bible College) through correspondence.

 

For two and a half years, Carolyn held bible studies in her home, was superintendent and teacher for a Sunday school, and was a custodian for eighteen months at a former church. She is a member of the spiritual board of education and writes curriculum for spiritual enrichment classes at Tabernacle of David Church, where her pastor was Pastor Larry M. Trice Jr. 

 

She leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Sheryl Jackson of Ohio, Sharon (Charles) Dunning of Ohio, Sherry (Ricky) Douglas-Cooper of Ohio, and Kim Douglas of Michigan; 7 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren all in Ohio and Michigan; sister, Rosa Lee Bryd of California; brother, Eugene Reynolds of St. Louis, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends including many spiritual grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Essie Allen and Harley RJ Reynolds; sister, Mary Elaine Steward of Ohio; and brother, Harley Reynolds of Ohio.
