Ms. Catherine Cat Nelson passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at her residence in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Age 82 years. She was born on June 25, 1934 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Laura Woods White and Leroy White.
Ms. Nelson was baptized at an early age at First Baptist Church in Blytheville, Arkansas. She relocated to Saginaw, Michigan at the age of 14 and was educated in the Saginaw Public School system. In 1950, she united in marriage to Mr. Luther James Polk. Later in life, she married Mr. Willie James Nelson. Catherine enjoyed all of her children and grandchildren and loved them dearly. She enjoyed cooking and being with her family. Catherine was employed at Sun Valley Nursing Home and had also been the caregiver for her mother until her health failed. She resided in Auburn Hills, Michigan since 2011.
Catherine leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Cynthia Polk, Pamela Polk-Davis, Nancy Nelson, Dorothy Nelson-Tarver and Caroline Nelson (Phillip Cook) of Saginaw, Michigan, Anitris Nelson, and Jacqueline Nelson of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Victoria Polk and Janet Smith of Pontiac, Michigan, Alicia Nelson, Portland, Oregon, Sharon Nelson (Kenneth Anthony), Pontiac, Michigan, Laura Carr (Jose Santiago) of Auburn Hills, Michigan; three sons, Larry Nelson, Willie James Nelson, Jr. and Michael Nelson, all of Saginaw, Michigan; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends including a special nephew, Fed Burgins and family, the Swilley family and favorite cousin, Emma Frierson and family.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy White and Laura Woods White; husband, Willie James Nelson; sons, Richard James Johnson, Larry Lee Polk; daughters, Henrietta Jeanette Polk and Patricia Ann Ford; two sons-in-law, Dean Isom and Steven Jackson.
The family would like to express special thanks to Residential Home Health Care and her caregiver of nine years, daughter, Laura Nelson Carr.
