Chad J. Perez (Lansing)

Chad J. Perez, age 52, of Lansing, Michigan, peacefully passed away in his sleep on February 24, 2024.

Chad was born on March 12, 1971, to the late Phyllis Hughes and Jesus (Jesse) Perez, Jr. of Lansing. He attended Lansing Christian School and Eastern High School before specializing in collision and auto body repair and restoration.

Throughout the years, Chad cherished time with his friends and family, adventures in the outdoors that involved on and off-road vehicles, and music, but above all, treasuring moments with his sons. He was a talented painter with an eye for detail and color, as well as a gifted gardener with a remarkable green thumb.

Chad was undoubtedly charismatic, always with a smile on his face, and was sure to put a smile on yours. He was a great father, friend, brother, and let him tell it lover. He was known to many friends as the “Romantic Hispanic”.

A source of endless humor, love, and kindness, Chad was simply an all-around incredible person whose impact was felt by everyone who crossed his path. He will be forever remembered and loved. To know him was to love him.

Chad is survived by his sons, Andrew J. Shawanibin and Jacob J. Perez, grandchildren Andrew Shawanibin Jr. and Brody Shawanibin, sister Alicia (Cisneros) Banks, brother Jesse Cisneros, nephew Diego Banks, niece Keiani Banks, great-aunt Carmen Benavides, aunt Beckie MacKenzie, stepfather Peter Kaiser, stepmother Jamesina Perez, and numerous cousins and friends.

Chad is preceded in death by his beloved partner Amanda Kessler, grandparents Maria Berlanga, Jesus Perez Sr., Sylvia and Daniel Seigo, great-uncle Tony Benavides, uncles Juan Jose “John” Perez, Ignacio Perez, Alfonzo Perez, Frank Perez, aunt Mary Perez, and cousins Sandy Perez and Angie (Perez) Castillo.
