Charles Andrews, Sr. (Lansing)

Mr. Charles Earl Andrews, Sr. passed away April 2, 2021, at Sparrow Hospital, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 60 years. He was born on May 5, 1960, in Enterprise, Alabama to parents Ernestine and John Williams.

Charles was a lifelong resident of Lansing, Michigan. He graduated from Eastern High School in 1978, started working at General Motors, and became a member of UAW 652. For several years, Charles worked the line, but he felt compelled to learn as many different skills as he could. Eventually, he took up skills trade and ended up in the role of a journeyman millwright. Charles held this position for over half his career, until he retired after 30 years, in 2008. He spent his retirement years pursuing his passion of carpentry work, which led to starting his own business, Charles’s Construction. This company filled his time until he passed. Charles had many hobbies, karate which he held a brown belt in, traveling, dressing to the 9’s, going dancing, and mentoring many young men. He enjoyed cooking and BBQing for his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 38 years, Regina Andrews; his children, Charles Earl Andrews, Jr. (T.K.), Reginald Tray (Nichole), and Khadejah Maxine Andrews; his pride and joys, his grandchildren, Ta’Shawn Malachi Andrews-Burtley, Josiah David Brown, Lakeeya Freddie Dicinda Burtley, Saraya Andrews, Cameron Andrews, Braylen Andrews, Jaiden Andrews, Kasmere Morgan, Tra’mere Harden, Jermale Reid, Anyssa Andrews, Cayden Proper, and Lily Proper; his mother, Ernestine Williams; sister, Melissa Andrews (Lonnie Marshall); brothers, John, Williams Jr. (Carolyn), and Bruce (Myrtis) Bell; father-in-law, Willis Pryor; sisters-in-law, Neice Pryor, Sheri Blackwell, and his favorite sister-in-law, Lisa Pryor-Fortner; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Pryor, Jr. and Willis Pryor; nieces, Toiyen Littlejohn, Amber Warren, Javon Pryor, and LaKesha Pryor; nephews, Calvin McClinton, Jermaine Pryor, Ricardo Pryor, Tank Pryor, Lawrence Pryor, Jr., Lionel Pryor; aunts, Linda Thompson, Georginna Ovenholtz, Francis Carlisle, Eva Jones, and Martha Hunter; uncles, Ernest Thompson, Jr. and Willie Thompson; and many other relatives and friends.
 
Charles was preceded in death by his father, John Williams; sister, Johnie Angela Andrews; grandparents, Ernest and Nancy Thompson; aunt, Amanda Putnam; and uncles, Richard Thompson and Riley Thompson.
