Charles C Smith Sr.

August 12, 1938 — June 15, 2014

Mr. Charles C. Smith Sr. "CC" passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at St. Marys of Michigan Medical Center. Age 75 years. He was born August 12, 1938 in Eudora, Arkansas to John and Lula Smith.
Charles served in the United States Air Force for 4 years and enjoyed a long career with Wickes Corporation, Dow Chemical and General Motors. He joined Olevia Murphy in holy matrimony on August 5, 1963. Added to this union were seven children, Carl, Frenchie, Terry, Nina, Tina, Charles Jr. and Chelon. Gone but never forgotten, he was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Olevia Murphy-Smith; six children, Carl (Elsie) Lane, Frenchie Lane, Tina Smith and Charles C. Smith Jr. all of Saginaw, Michigan, Nina Smith of Charlotte, North Carolina and Chelon (Rossiel) Harris of Atlanta, Georgia; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; one sister, Jon Evelyn Wettlin of Saginaw, Michigan; six brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; one godson, Larry Bowman Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan; several surrogate sons, daughters and a great host of friends including three special friends who offered continuous support during his time of illness, Dorothy Gaines Dot, Doris Burns and Juanita Halmon.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lula Smith, one daughter, Terry Gentry, one brother, Sterling Hawkins and one sister, Louise Archer.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered kind words, prayers and condolences.
