Charles Michael Humes, Sr.

Mr. Charles Michael Humes, Sr. passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Age 70 years. He was born January 6, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, to Rosa and Terrance Humes, Sr.

Charles was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan, where he was raised, and attended Saginaw High School, He also resided in Ypsilanti Michigan for a while. Charles enjoyed working on cars, dressing, and playing cards with his family and friends. He was employed at many junkyards and industrial plants. Charles and the love of his life, Jessie Mae Humes, were married for 50 years; to their union, three children were born.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jessie Mae Humes; two daughters, Tanzania Cummings, and Marquetia Humes; one son Charles Humes Jr.; grandchildren, Darrell (Sharese) and LaDarris Shivers, Tayah Thomas, William, Freddie, Patrick, Deirra, Charles III, Chace, Christian, Camryn, Daeon, DaLonte, Shanaya, Kiah, LaDarris Jr., Jaxon, Avah, Carsen, and Jazmine; eight sisters, Barbara, Defiance, Ohio, Roselyn, Patricia, Faye (Charles), Lansing, Michigan, Rosemary, Ramona Sue, Gwendolyn and Helen, Saginaw and Grand Rapids, Michigan; three brothers, Terrance (Doris) Humes, Saginaw, Donald Humes, Mio, Michigan, and Johnny Humes, Lansing, Michigan; many nieces, nephews, and aunts; mother-in-law, Jennie Mae Shivers, Saginaw, Michigan; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Beverly, Saginaw, Michigan; two brothers-in-law, Dan and Roosevelt Shivers.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa and Terrance Humes; three nieces, Latoya Green, Shannon Williams, and Shatoria Shivers; two nephews, Steven Humes and Terrence Humes, IV; father-in-law, Charlie Shivers, and brothers-in-law, James and Waymen Shivers, and Hayes Douglas.
