On New Years Eve, December 31, 1950 in Stanton, Tennessee, God delivered a special blessing into the arms of Charlie and Elsie Lee White, when their darling son, Charles White was born.
He accepted Christ as his savior at an early age and in 2016 became a member of Friendship House of Prayer Baptist Church. Charles married his high school sweetheart Peggy and they celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Charles White began working for the United States Postal Service (USPS) at the Cedar Street location in 1970 and soon moved to the USPS GMF facility on Collins Road. He then started working as an MM Mechanic. Charles retired in 2011 after 42 years of service.
If you knew Charles White, then you know that he was a hard worker, talented, caring, funny, supportive, dependable, determined, passionate, adventurous and more.
Charles enjoyed having Sunday dinners with his family, barbequing, decorating the house for the holidays, playing games and having bonfires with his grandchildren, driving his 1966 Chevy truck, going out to eat and shopping with his wife, bowling, planning car shows for the church and most of all just overseeing church activities, such as setting up the outside games and watching the children during the Summer Feed program. Charles had a special bond with Deacon Tom Marshall and the two of them worked on numerous projects for and around the church. He also served on the Friendship House Of Prayer Usher Board and was the church’s Security Liaison. Charles received the FHOP Layman of the Year Award in 2017.
His memory will remain forever in the hearts of his wife Peggy; Children, Christy Grace (Carl), Karen White and Anthony White, along with his special “daughter”, Davita Parker; Grandchildren, Natalie Grace, Amari Thomas, Jalen Grace, Anthony “A.J.” White, Jr., Davonté Parker-White, Dorian Parker-White and Antrez Parker-White; Siblings, Patricia (Leandrew) White-Wiggins, Mary (Lee) Partee, Preston (Tyree) Leavy, and Lucille White; Beloved Uncle and Aunt, Ocie and Katherine Middlebrook; Special cousin, Norma Jean Middlebrook, who was like a sister and mother, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles White, Jr.
On April 8, 2020 Charles White exchanged his time on earth for a wonderful eternity that was prepared especially for him.
