Mr. Charley Jones passed away Monday July 14, 2014 at Covenant Healthcare- Cooper. Age 87 years. He was born November 21, 1926 in Arlington, Tennessee to Charley and Savannah Jones.
Charley was a faithful member of Candlelight Baptist church under the leadership of Pastor Jimmie Simmington. He loved his church and his church family. He enjoyed playing dominoes and bowling. Charley never met stranger. He was a sharp dresser and had a great sense of humor. Charley was united in holy matrimony to Mary E. Scott, she preceded him in death on June 5, 2011. Charley loved spending time with his family in Saginaw, Iowa, Tennessee and Indiana. His presence will be truly missed.
Charley leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Lisa Jones and Annie Onuagu; four sons, Charles W. Jones, Patrick and Shannon Washington of Saginaw, Michigan and Marcus (Geneva) Jones of Indianapolis, Indiana; twenty six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Arnold of Saginaw, Michigan and Cora Harris of Oakland, Tennessee; twenty six nieces and nephews including a niece who was more like a daughter to him, Shirley Ann Cooper and a nephew whom he raised as a son, Charles Thompson of Detroit, Michigan; two brothers-in-law, John W. Baidy (Kay) of Monroe, Michigan and John Rose of Monroe, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Porter-Jones; many other relatives and friends including his best friend, John Jackson, adopted family the Jacksons, his very special companion, Mrs. Ludie Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Jones, one daughter, Dwana Barnes, one grandson, Aaron Porter, five brothers and three sisters.
The family would like to express special thanks to his neighbors at Elmwood Manor, Mrs. Tonya, McLaren Home Care nurse , Mary Armstrong and Dr. Harpal Singh.
