Charlie Turner

April 28, 1928 — May 10, 2024

In the Heavens above, no greater servant shall be welcomed than the soul of Charlie Turner, whose earthly journey came to a gentle close on May 10th, 2024, surrounded by family at his home.

Deacon Charlie Turner was born to William and Betty Jean Turner on April 28th, 1928, in Ed-wards, Mississippi. He was the ninth child of ten. Brother Turner moved to Muskegon, Michigan, in 1947 and then to Saginaw, Michigan, in 1949.

He finally met the love of his life, Georgia Turner, in Saginaw, and they wed on April 28th, 1973. He shared a deep bond with his beloved wife, whom he affectionately called "Mama," spanning over five decades of marriage. Their partnership was marked by mutual respect, laughter, and enduring companionship—a love story that inspires those who knew them.

Starting in the 1960s, Brother Turner faithfully served at All Nations Prayer Tower COGIC under the leadership of the late Pastor Lewis Bishop, where he was ordained as a Deacon. He dedicat-ed many years to serving as the President of the Usher Board and as an usher in District 8, demonstrating his commitment to God and his church community through his service and lead-ership roles. He last served at Greater Love Ministries under Pastor James and First Lady Char-lene Snead.

Brother Turner worked at various places, from Campbell, Wyatt, & Cannon Foundry in Mus-kegon, Michigan, to his longest employment with General Motors in Saginaw, Michigan, where he retired after 27 years. He took pride in owning a home and maintaining his yard, watching Western movies, listening to gospel music, attending church, and eating a home-cooked meal. His pastimes also included playing baseball in leagues in the South.

He was a dedicated family man, exemplifying love, kindness, and commitment to his loved ones. Brother Turner stood as a pillar of strength and a beacon of love within his family circle, offering rides, giving financial support, and witnessing God's favor whenever needed. His warm smile and gentle demeanor left a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. His family was his greatest joy and proudest achievement, cherished with his whole heart as he radiated warmth and love to everyone around him.

Unfortunately, Brother Turner had to endure the loss of his wife on January 15th, 2024. There-fore, he leaves to cherish his memory his children: Charles (Gracie) Turner, Larry Turner, Inez (Raymond) Tyson, Mentha Hall, Narvel (Felicia) Badger, Angela Snead, Mario (Ebony) Turner, and Georgette (Twannie) Gray. He leaves behind one brother, Otis Turner, and one sister, Mary Johnson. His grandchildren: Raymond (Denise) and Shanelle Tyson, Charles and Lashawka Mil-ler, Sckeinkia Price, Timothy II, Isaiah (Dorothy), Nehemiah, Michael (Ashley), Noah, Monsherri, and Nana Hall, Quinton (Felicia), Breanne, and Zachary Badger-House, Avaris, Terrance (Audrey), and Demario Snead, Lauren Buchanan, Julian Scott-Turner, Jacob, Jackson, and Gia Gray. He also leaves many great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews—two of many special friends, Brother Furlow and Brother Franklin Davis, and two special brothers-in-law, Da-vid and James Snead, and a special niece, Hazel Turner.

Brother Turner was preceded in death by his parents, William and Betty Jean Turner; wife, Georgia Turner; brothers, James, Johnny, Elam, J.C., C.P., and L.C. Turner, Sr.; sisters, Hattie Mae Graham and Addie Bell Wilson, his son, Otis Turner, nephew Ray Turner, and great-granddaughter, Amari Tyson.

Charlie Turner, please stand and face the Heavens and march towards the cross. Your legacy of love and kindness will forever echo in our hearts. May your spirit inspire us always. Rest peace-fully, Dad!
