Charlie Williams

Mr. Charlie Williams passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at GlenLake Terrace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Waukegan, Illinois. Age 71 years. He was born July 2, 1944 to Roosevelt and Lessie Williams in Enterprise, Alabama.
Charlie was a graduate of Alabama Public Schools. He moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1962 where he met and married his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Gwendolyn Williams. Mr. Williams was employed by General Motors (Chevrolet Grey Iron Foundry) and was a member of UAW Local 668. He retired after 40 years of service. Charlie loved and enjoyed time spending time with his family, singing gospel music and playing cards.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beautiful wife, Gwendolyn; two daughters and five sons, Charlotte (Tyrone) Marshall of Virginia, Jacqueline (John) Smith of Heidelberg, Germany, Lelone Williams of Pennsylvania, Charles (Denea) Williams of Missouri, twins, Marcus Williams of Saginaw, Michigan and Maurice Williams of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Marvin Williams of Ohio; twenty-four grandchildren including Jesse and Amber Williams whom he raised as his own; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Earline (Elvis) Owens; two brothers, Roosevelt and Johnny Williams; many nieces, nephews and cousins; mother-in-law, Martha Young; sister-in-law, Cynthia Young; four brothers-in-law, Larry Jackson, Mark, Keith and Roger Young.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Lessie Williams, three brothers, Edlee, Roy and Charles Williams; three sisters, Isabell Williams, Dorothy Knights and Meadlee Daniel, two grandchildren, Ebony Keel and EvaVana Galloway.
The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Amin and staff, Covenant Select Specialty Hospital staff, GlenLake Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center staff and Ivan E. Phillips and the staff at Paradise Funeral Chapel.
