Choucia Jackson

March 4, 1923 — February 18, 2015

Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Choucia Jackson accepted his heavenly wings on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the age of 91 years old. He was born on March 4, 1923 in Magnolia, Arkansas son of the late Bertha and Madie Jackson.
Choucia was united in marriage to Ethel L. Parks on January 10, 1951 in Jefferson County, Arkansas. She predeceased him on January 13, 2003. Choucia moved to Michigan in 1953 seeking employment and was employed by Chevrolet Grey Iron Plant for 27 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #668. Choucia accepted Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church for 58 years where he served on the church board as a Trustee, Senior Usher and was a member of the Male Chorus. He also served in many other capacities as needed in the church.
Choucia was a private first class in the United States Army, served in World War II and was part of the 4055th Quarter Master Service Company in the Normandy Invasion. He received the Good Conduct Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with One Bronze Star.
Choucia was a Mason of the International Free and Accepted Modern Masons where he served at the King James Lodge #109 for 29 years. Choucia loved reading the bible and discussing Gods word. Choucia enjoyed sharing his words of wisdom and life lessons with those around him.
His memory will be cherished by two sons, Charles (Mattie) Jackson and Dennis (Laura) Jackson; three daughters, Caroline Jarrett (Roy Poole), Annette Jackson, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Barbara (Fred) Morris of Henderson, Nevada; Choucia shared a very special bond with his grandchildren, all of whom will miss him dearly, Tiffany, Dennis, Torrion, Jamon, Avaris, Julian, Raymond, Rochelle, Jill, Nicole, Kimberly and Ashley; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; Choucia is also survived by one sister, Madie (Roosevelt) Sharp of Muskegon, Michigan and one brother, James (Bobbie) Jackson of Houston, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Choucia was predeceased by his parents, two half-sisters, Nancy B. Comb and Isadore Whitehead; four sisters, Claudine Scroggins, Rosetta Lewis, Maxine McCray, Helen G. Hughey and two brothers, Alfonso Jackson and U.V. Jackson, one son, Billy Jackson and one granddaughter, Chaka Khan Jarrett.
