On Saturday, May 9, 2015 Mrs. Christabell Woodson peacefully made her transition into eternal rest. Age 83 years. She was born October 31, 1931 in Calhoun County, St. Matthews, South Carolina to Henry and Josephine Howell.
Later in life, Christabell met and married the love of her life, Mr. James E. Woodson. He preceded her in death. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor E. W. Bothuel and currently Pastor Lafayette Simpson. Christabell enjoyed being active in church affairs. She loved visiting and caring for her many grandchildren. She was always there when they needed her most. Christabell loved her family and her wonderful presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory and precious legacy four daughters, Geraldine (Charles) Green-Byrd, Carolyn J. Curry, Loretta Longuemire and Pamela (Jimmy) Brooks; ten grandchildren, Johnnie Jr. III (Linda) Green, Christie Green-Lyons, Elmer T. Curry Jr., Jason T. (Tajuana) Green, Vannessa C. Curry, Latrice Williams, Marsha (Eugene) Perkins, Christine Evans, Jimmy Ray Brooks Jr. and Shalonna Brooks; forty great-grandchildren and eighteen great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends including a special friend, Robin Banks.
Christabell was preceded in death by two children, Cora and Joseph Mitchell, her mother, Josephine Pettiford, one grand-daughter, Sheryl J. Green, one great-grand-daughter, Chaquandrya L. Green, one great-grandson, Charles T.J. Clemons and one son-in-law, Kenneth Longuemire.
The family wishes to express special thanks to everyone who offered kind words, prayers and condolences. A very special thanks to the staff at Saginaw Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care they gave our loved one during her stay there and the 4th and 5th floor staff of Covenant Healthcare-Cooper. We appreciate all the wonderful care she was given. Thank you all and may God bless each and everyone.
