During his early years Chris completed training at the Oakland Police Academy and worked as a full time Park Ranger during the summer months and weekends. He was also an active member of the Utica Church of Christ where he served as Deacon, song leader, and taught Sunday School.

Chris and Kathy relocated to Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida in 2012. There, he taught history and economics in the Broward School District. A few of his accomplishments include Mt. Clemens Coaches Hall of Fame, Mary McLeod Bethune Award, Roseville Teacher of the Year, Young Educators Society Leader and member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
