Clarice Lorraine Johnson went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the age of 89 years. She was born March 9, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to the union of Charles Johnson and Anna Caldwell.
Clarice joined the Good Sheppard Church and the Good Sheppard Camp at an early age and became a faithful worker. She went to DePaul University and Business College in Chicago. She received her degree in Accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant. She passed the requirements but she was never given the opportunity during that early time in life to work in her field. A friend talked to her and persuaded her to go into the field of Education. She became a teacher and taught elementary school until she retired. Her nephew Albert Jr. attended one the schools where she taught. Clarice enjoyed traveling, reading and corresponding with family and friends. Her close friends were Marilyn Rose, Carolyn Smith, Mozell Williams, Ruthie, and Mrs. Sandra Davis. Clarice loved children and she took her three nephews Albert Jr., Ronald and Christopher Kidd to Disney World when they were younger. It was one of the most exciting times of their lives thanks to her.
She was a very caring and giving person/teacher. Many times she bought clothing, shoes and boots for students who were improperly dressed in her classes. Clarice was an avid reader. She loved music and played the piano. She also liked going to operas and often went to the opera theatres in Chicago. After teaching 41 yrs. with the Department of Illinois School System, Clarice moved to Muskegon, Michigan where she was welcomed by her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory one sister-in- law, Dolly Kidd; nephews, Albert Jr., Ronald (Jonnie Faye) and Christopher Kidd; great nephews and nieces Lurevell Johnson, Darius, Ronisha, Shanika and Ronald Kidd Jr.; special family, Cheryl Pratt of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Pat Thomas of Jackson, Michigan, Charles Hurks (Helen), James Brumfield (Carolyn), George and Eartha Bowman, and Katrina Harris of Lansing, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Anna Kidd, and brothers, Albert Kidd and Edward Kidd.
