Claude Mckinney

October 20, 1937 — October 7, 2014

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Claude McKinney Jr. Bo went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the age of 76 years after a long illness. He was born October 20, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Claude and Lillie Mae McKinney.
Claude or Bo as he was fondly known as to family and friends, attended Potter Elementary School, Central Junior High School and was a graduate of Saginaw High School class of 1955. He attended Bay City Junior College (now known as Delta College) majoring in Electronics. Claude also served his country in the United States Navy as one of the few African-Americans working with computers in the early 1960s. He retired from General Motors Saginaw Malleable Iron Foundry in 1999 after 35 years of faithful service as one of Saginaws finest Journeyman Electricians. As a licensed master electrician, he also founded his own company, McKinney Electric Inc. He loved fishing, boxing, jazz and old classic movies.
His memory will be cherished by his devoted wife and companion for almost 50 years, Bobbie; one son, Pastor William (Pastor Laura) Brown; two grandsons, William Demetrius Brown and Westley Donavon Brown; three grand-daughters, Rebekka Rose Brown, Faith Laci Brown and Ciara Butler; three great- grandchildren, Damaruis William Xavier Brown, William Demetrius Brown Jr. and Alayah Jordin Fletcher; two sisters, Lillie Mae McKinney-Hoggs of Livonia, Michigan and Beverly McKinney of Ann Arbor, Michigan; three brothers, Will McKinney and Thomas McKinney of Saginaw, Michigan and David (Anita) McKinney, Southfield, Michigan; one aunt, Arlene Lovett of Flint, Michigan; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, Arthur Millege, Victor Johnson and Sheryl Stanford.
Claude was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Lynette Brown and two brothers, John Edward McKinney and Lawrence Harry McKinney.
The family would like to express special thanks to the doctors and nurses at University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw, Michigan.
