Clifton Deandre-Reed Murchison "Buddha" (Lansing)

Mr. Clifton DeAndre Reed Murchison "Buddha" passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021, at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Age 51 years. He was born in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Dennis Clifton Reed and Laura Mae Murchison on Monday, September 28, 1970.

Clifton was a lifelong resident of Lansing, Michigan. He attended schools in the Okemos Public Schools and Lansing School Districts, graduating from Lansing J. W. Sexton High School in 1988. Clifton attended Eastern Michigan University. He was employed for almost 15 years at Coverys Insurance Services, as a Claim Reporting Representative working with Medical Professional Liability Malpractice. Clifton was an excellent writer which helped him excelled at his position. Clifton was thoughtful, and precise in all that he did. He was a very honest person, if you don’t want to know, don’t ask Clifton, because he will tell you his honest opinion. He was a sharp dresser and has a great sense of fashion. Clifton grew up in several local churches because his Mom and 2 aunts took him to church regularly. He was raised in Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with his Mom; attended St. Paul Church of God in Christ with his Aunts Ally and Barbara where he sang in the Buds of Promise Church. Choir. As an adult, Clifton attended Mount Hope Church. One of Clifton’s favorite gospel groups was the Mississippi Mass Choir. He enjoyed playing tennis, traveling especially to Philadelphia and Chicago, old school music, his friends and family. Family was very important to Buddha, and he cherished the times he spent with his Mom and brothers. Buddha helped to take care of his Mom and brother, Tim.

Clifton leaves to cherish his loving memories his mother, Laura Murchison Neal; brothers, Timothy Murchison, Jeffrey Reed of Detroit, Michigan, and Sharron Manager of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Shawnda (Sam) Gipson of Dallas, Texas, and Sonja (Terry) Jackman of Atlanta, Georgia; nieces, Paige Murchison, and Shanara Collins of Atlanta, Georgia; nephews, Tyler Reed of Detroit, Michigan, Rodnell Neal of Atlanta, Georgia, and Sterling “Tino” (Jennifer) Collins of Dallas, Texas; many great nieces and nephews including his heartbeat, Bronx Ardister; aunts, Janice Small of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Allie (Andy) Jones, and Barbara (Dennis) Grady; great aunt, Arlene Mitchell of Atlanta, Georgia; great uncle, Charles Mitchell; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives including godparents, Sandra Neal of Los Angeles, California, Melvin and Sharon Peters of Belleville, Michigan, and friends including friends who were like his brothers, Kevin Strickland and Chris Jenkins and his prayer partner as well as special friend of the family, Willie T. Miller.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Clifton Reed; grandparents, Jesse Reed, Francis Roberts, John Willie Murchison, and Laura Murchison (Coyal) Beavers; uncles, Charles Murchison, Joslyn “Joe” Murchison, Willie Murchison, and Edward Helms; many other aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
