Clinton Hollis 'Chop'

December 24, 1944 — February 14, 2015

Deacon Clinton Hollis Jr. Chop went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the age of 70 years. He was born December 24, 1944 in Charleston, Mississippi to the late Clinton Hollis Sr. and Vera Sawyer (Goss).
Clinton was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. He was an active member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church for the past 24 years, currently under the leadership of Pastor Willie Hill Jr. Clinton was a member of the Deacon Board and Male Chorus. He devoted himself to the church. Clinton spent many hours visiting individuals who were ill and needed prayer. He retired from Saginaw Steering Gear (Delphi) Plant 6 in 1996 after several years of service, and was a member of UAW Local 699. Clinton loved baseball and he received many trophies and awards for his achievements in the sport. He enjoyed spending time in his yard gardening and landscaping. Clinton dedicated his life to his church, family and friends. His presence will be truly missed.
Clinton leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 36 years, Betty Thomas Hollis; two daughters and two sons, Lisa Thomas of Charleston, Mississippi, Latoya Ann Hollis of Saginaw, Michigan, Brian Demitric Hollis of Saginaw, Michigan and Terry Hollis of Texas; four brothers, Charles, Milton and Michael Hollis and Haneef Ruchdan; eight grandchildren, Christopher Brock, Stephon Brock, KLeigh Foster, Jazzlyn Hollis, Kamryn Foster, Dominick Hollis, Lakhya Franklin and LaVaeh Burnside; one niece and one nephew, JoAnn and Amir Ruchdan; many other relatives and friends including his three lifelong best friends, Louis Mitchell, Stanley Howell and Gus Alexander.
Clinton was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Hollis Sr. and Vera Sawyer (Goss).
The family would like to express our deepest appreciation for the many expressions of love shown during our time of bereavement. A special thank you to Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel, Pastor Willie Hill Jr. and the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church family.
