A faithful, caring, courageous, loving, and supportive daughter, mother, grand-mother and solider of King Jesus Cloteal Julia Thompson came to the end of her life of labors and toils on the eve of Thursday, September 3, 2009.
Cloteal Julia McCullouch was born on January 9, 1929 in Brooksville, Florida, the second of two children born to Sylvester and Ethel (Williams) McCullouch. It was her parents quest for a better living that brought them to Saginaw, Michigan; where Cloteal received her education in Saginaw Public Schools. It was her professional training in the field of Nursing Assistant that allowed her to demonstrate her skill as a loving caregiver.
On August 27, 1949, Cloteal married Daniel Webster Thompson in Saginaw, Michigan. This union was blessed with five lovely children. Cloteal committed her life to a much higher calling of parenting shortly after her marriage. Cloteal quickly mastered the arts of motherhood and homemaker. Her home and table was a place always known for welcome that extended far beyond her family. Sister Thompsons (as she was fondly called) home was a haven for her children as well as other children from church and the neighborhood. Everyone loved her good food and fun. Cloteals natural knack for nurturing children led her to become a volunteer tutor for the Saginaw Elementary Public School.
She will be profoundly remembered for her calm, humble, meek, patient, and hospitable gifts. She must never be forgotten for her courageous fight of cancer over the last 17 years outliving two of her physicians. Even when in lots of pain and discomfort she never complained, instead she chose to praise God or turn the conversation to concerns of your family.
Cloteal was influenced by the teaching of Elder Russell Bates and was baptized into the Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church on August 12, 1958. It was the crowning day of her life. She served as a Deaconess and a part of the Community Service Team.
Daniel predeceased Cloteal on May 4, 2001. Left to cherish her loving memory are three sons, Sylvester (Claudette) Thompson of Midland, Michigan, David (Faye) of Saginaw, Michigan and Robert (Olga) of Miramar, Florida; one step-son Daniel (Sylvia) Bishop of Cleveland, Ohio and two daughters Millie Anderson of Flint, Michigan and Ethel Thompson of Overland Park, Kansas; sixteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one nephew Milton Walker of Saginaw, Michigan; One brother in law Henderson Delaney; many relatives; close neighbors and friends.
She found hope in Jesus, the life giver and she awaits His call, sleeping till Jesus comes.
