Constance J. Peters, lovingly known as C.J. passed away October 8, 2012. Age77 years. She was born December 31, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio to Thomas and Gladys Peters.
C.J. was a proud graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1954. She also attended Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio. C.J. was active in the civil rights movement and worked for the Urban League. She had an illustrious career at Michigan Bell as a customer service representative until her retirement. She was a longtime member of St. Luke C.M.E. Church, under the leadership of Pastor Charles Braddock, where she was active in Adult Sunday School, Lay Council, Missionary Society, Prayer Band and Bible Study. C.J. was also active with the First Ward Grandparents group, Rev. Judy Boli and St. Pauls Episcopal family, especially the Out-Reach Ministries. She volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, the Ezekial Project, the Literary Program at Hoyt Library, and the Book Club at Archer Claytor Library. She was active with the First Assembly of God Assembly Bible Study and completed multiple classes. She was a member of Women United and a Prayer Warrior.
She leaves to cherish her memory one niece, Karen (Eric) Wright; one grand- nephew, Justin Wright; one sister, Betty Green; many cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Essie Ringold, Oreata Knuckles, Rosa Conway, Belford Washington, Nesby Garrett, Dr. Mary Ann Lucas and the St. Luke C.M.E. Church family.
