Cora A. Welch a beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 after a long battle with her health at Saginaw Geriatrics Home. Age 61. She was born October 14, 1950 in Ozark, Alabama to Mildred and Eurl Welch.
She was a product of the Saginaw Public School District graduating from Saginaw High School. Because of Cora's love for taking care of others, she began her career as a CNA and Home Health Aide. She continued to work until her health failed her. Cora attended St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Her interest included taking care of her dog Sam whom she loved dearly. She spoiled him with any and everything as though he was one of her children. Cora liked doing crossword puzzles and playing solitaire on her computer. She also enjoyed going out to eat with friends and family. Whenever she couldn't go out, she would watch the Food Network Channel.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Mildred Welch; two daughters, Tongua Welch, Nakella Williams; two sons, Garland (Tanya) Welch, Shawn Williams; and of course her other baby, her beloved dog Sam; grandchildren, Garland Welch Jr., Destiny Sampson, Brittany Burt, Te'Airis and T'Keyah Harris, Jayla Rodgers, T'Omie Welch, Charles Burt, Elijah Curry Jr., Shawn Williams Jr., Delvon and Danasia Williams; one great-grandchild, Julian (JJ);her mother, Mildred Welch; two sisters, Evalene (James)Hodge, Valencia Welch; two brothers, Earl (Linda) Welch, Stanley (Maria) Welch; four nieces, Sabrina Williams, Stephanie Welch, Tineen (Danny) McDole and Jennifer Hodge; two nephews, Earl Welch Jr., Corey Welch; three aunts, Gracie Mosquero, North Carolina, Annie Long, Florida, Victoria Calhoun, Alabama; two uncles, Charles Shipman and Ike Welch, both of Florida; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Tanya Feltson, Steven Barker, Rose Ferrell, John Falls, Sabrina Gaines and Sheila Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eurl B. Welch; grandparents Oscar and Evamae Shipman, Cora Welch, Andrew Jackson; brother, Leon Welch; grandson, Shane Peoples Welch.
