Cornelius Jordan

October 28, 1955 — July 17, 2020

On July 17, 2020, Mr. Cornelius Jordan affectionately known as a husband, father, dad, grandad, and great-grandad went home to rest with his Father. He was born October 28, 1955 to Annie and Johnnie Jordan. Cornelius loved the Lord and had a personal relationship with Him.

Cornelius absolutely loved music. However, the bass guitar was the instrument he was fond of playing. He was one of the best bass players in the city of Saginaw. His love for music was truly healing to the soul and he enjoyed himself each time he played the bass. Cornelius was a member of Hunt’s Determination Band. He later started Rhythm House Band, which garnered popularity at venues in Bay City and Saginaw. He would sometimes play with his band in his garage, drawing the attention of everyone who could hear them jamming to old school hits. It made him glad to know his music made others get up and dance.

Cornelius was amazing at so many things. Anything he put his hands to do, it flourished. He baked the greatest German chocolate cakes that you would ever taste and he made pancakes and French toast better than any restaurant. He was an excellent cook, making every holiday meal extremely special and delicious for his family. He did the best relaxers for his daughters and loved ones, styling their hair with skills learned in cosmetology school.

Cornelius was a fisherman and would sit for hours at the “fish bank,” excited to catch crappie and walleye. He was a fan of cologne with JOOP being his favorite back in the day. He made better cologne choices later down the line. Cornelius had a kind spirit and people found it easy to gravitate towards him. He loved his entire family and loved being around people. He was a comedian and always had a joke to make you laugh.

Cornelius was preceded in death by his first wife, Pamela; parents, Annie and Johnnie; grandmother, Mama Jannie; sisters, Delores, Loletha, and Jannie Lucretia; niece, Wilhelmina; nephew, Terry; great-niece, Tanya; great-nephew, Marcus.

Cornelius was happily married to Shirley Ann, who survives him. He will be missed dearly by his children, Ericka, Melony, Janay, Terri Lynn, Brianna, Shavonya, Ronnie “Mook”; grandchildren, Jamarquis, Shaquis, Mekhi, Chad, Ty Anthony, Zaria Camille, Bailey Rose, and Christian; grandchildren, Demario, Delione, and Nyia; great-grandchildren, Kharece and Carsen; sister-in-laws, Paulette, Carol, Sandy (Eddie), Gertrude, and Beverly “Twinkie” (Trevor); brother-in-laws, Eli (Karen), Donald (Stella), Glenn (Juanita), and Lonzie (Cynthia); special niece, Keyvia; special great-niece, Tameka Greene; special nephews, Terrence and Afton; godsons, Kevin, Obed, and De’Arius; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends, George, Carl, Chet, Lance, “Spoon,” and “Boonie.”
