Mr. Curtis C. Hines, better known as Poochie, was born on July 4, 1963, to Mary Lee and Calvin Hines. He was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Hoyt Nursing Home in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 61 years.
Poochie silently battled bone cancer, but he suffers no more. In his last days, he got what he wanted most, and that was to feel loved and to peacefully be called home. He was a quiet man who kept to himself but when he expressed himself or talked, he made you feel loved even when he felt the need to cuss you out. He adored the simple things in life such as riding and fixing his many bicycles, listening to music, eating, and collecting many kinds of things like coins, stamps, and comic books were his hobbies. He did not have a church home, but he definitely knew and loved the Lord. Poochie was not big on smiling but when he did smile, he would light up the room; he had a very contagious laugh when he laughed. He was a good man and will be missed and loved forever.
Curtis, aka Poochie, leaves to cherish his memory and whom he loved dearly, his daughter Devona Gilbert; two grandsons, Kylin Gilbert and Bruce Jones Jr.; six sisters, Emmie (Tyrone) Powell, Shirley Barker, Mary Ann (Leroy) Garner, Geraldine "Peewee" Hines with whom he had a special bond and relationship, Laurilla Perkins, and Joyce Hines; two brothers, Billy Ray (Tina) Hines, and Douglas Hines; seventeen nieces, and he had a special bond with his niece, Monique Hines and her sons; twelve nephews; an abundance of great-nieces and nephews and a few great-great-nieces and nephews, too many to list individually.
Curtis was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lee Hines; his father, Calvin Hines; grandmother, Gracie Thomas; three brothers, Sammy, Jimmy, and Willie Hines; niece, Sareena Hines; nephew, Michael Barker, and two brothers-in-law, Sam Perkins and Davie Barker.
