Our beloved husband and father, Curtis Simmons passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014 at St. Marys Medical Center at the age of 81 years. He was born in Scott, Mississippi on September 5, 1933 to John Simmons and Enzell Baldridge.
Curtis retired from the Grey Iron Foundry in 1991 after 45 years of service. He was a member of U.A.W Local 668. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and meeting with friends at McDonalds restaurant on Dixie Highway. Curtis sincerely loved his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Johnnie M. Simmons; children, Yvonne Warren of Phoenix, Arizona, Vernell Simmons, Veronica (Victor) King, Cederick (Megan) Walker, all of Saginaw, Michigan, and Pauline Simmons of Denver Colorado; step-children, Abraham (Kate) Walker of Evanston, Illinois, Kenny Walker of Denver Colorado, Consuella Walker of Kalamazoo, Michigan; 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Bessie Mae Williams of Chicago, Illinois; mother-in-law, Ella V. Jones; eight sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews and cousins; special cousins, the Scott family of Metcalfe, Mississippi and Mayo (Gloria) Todd of Detroit, Michigan; and hunting buddies, Leroy Virgies and Tommy Hezekiah.
Curtis was preceded in death by his mother, Enzell Baldridge, sisters, Dorothy (Joshua) Burden and Dora Lee Burton, brother, Clem Simmons and daughter, JoAnn Simmons.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the third floor SICU of St. Marys Medical Center, Dr. T. David Chen and Leslie Addison for his unwavering support.
