Daisy Pope Baber "Mother Dear"

Mrs. Daisy Pope Baber affectionately known by many as “Mother Dear,” a long time resident and educator of Saginaw, Michigan, made her transition to eternal life on Friday, February 14, 2025, at her residence in Daytona Beach, Florida, at the age of 100. Born Daisy Pope to the late Adam and Laura Pope in Havana, Florida, as the third of 5 siblings. She was the last to reach her eternal home.

Mrs. Baber is also a longtime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, previously with Eta Upsilon Omega Chapter of Saginaw, Michigan.

Mother Dear is survived by her daughter, Estrella Young; son, Frankie (Hildra) Johnson II; grandsons, Quentin Azama, Reverend Troy Johnson, Damon Johnson, and Devon Johnson; granddaughters, Angelique Joe, Dr. Terri Johnson (Wendell), and Ronda Johnson; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loved ones, along with a bonus daughter, Mattie Johnson.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be conducted at a later date to be announced.
