Daisy Mae Williams (Lansing)

December 14, 1942 — February 14, 2018

Ms. Daisy Mae Williams made her transition to be with The Lord on February 14, 2018. Age 75 years. She was born on December 14,1942 to John and Annie Jones in Wrightsville, Georgia.

After living on the farm, her family relocated to Florida where she discovered a love for fresh mangoes, which helped to inspire her passion for cooking. Over the years, Ms. Daisy became well known for her culinary skills and barbecuing; especially in the community of the Reo Road Townhouses, where she resided. She was a true humanitarian, if you were hungry - she fed you, if you needed clothes - she clothed you, irrespective of the color of your skin. If you needed a ride to the grocery store - she was there for you. It was not uncommon for her to offer such acts of kindness to the people. Most of all, she was a great advocate for children, feeding many children in her neighborhood on a daily basis. She also made monthly donations to Adopt an African Child, Save the Children, No Kid Hungry, and various religious organizations. Additionally, Ms. Daisy was the Contralto singer in her family choir: The Traveling Stars, led by her Mother, Evangelist Annie Cora Jones and featuring her sisters, Baby Grace Pendleton - Mezzo Soprano, Mary Bowers - Alto, Katherine Allen - Lead singer and pianist and Jacqueline Jones - the beautifully angelic Soprano...they were truly gifted.

Ms. Daisy leaves to cherish her memory: son, Gerald Ray Williams; daughter, Shomari K. Williams; grandsons, Damon Morrell, Dijuan Williams, Jimmy Clark, Desmund Williams and Ishmial Williams; granddaughter, Caroline Williams; sisters, Baby Grace Pendleton and Jacqueline Jones both of Lansing, Michigan; brother Carlisle Hudson of Georgia; 12 nephews, 13 nieces, 15 great-nephews, 25 great-nieces, many great-great nieces, great-great nephews, saints, other relatives and friends.

Ms. Daisy was preceded in death by her husband John Williams; mother, Evangelist Annie Cora Jones; daughter. Dina Williams; sisters, Mary Bowers and Katherine Allen; brothers, Willie Mitchell and Gary Cunningham, nieces Sonya Tobias, Tear Cochran and Tonya Pendleton.

For 75 years, Ms. Daisy Mae Williams lived by the philosophy that we are all brothers and sisters in the eyes of God and she treated everyone who crossed her path as such...
