Damon Frierson

September 17, 1974 — September 19, 2020

Mr. Damon Lavern Frierson, affectionately known as “Day-Day” or “The Day”, transitioned from this life on Saturday, September 19, 2020 in Detroit, Michigan at the age of 46. He was born September 17, 1974 at Saginaw General Hospital to Bishop Ronald and Lady Georgette Frierson. Damon attended Saginaw Public Schools and graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1992. He went on to earn an Associates Degree from Delta College and his Bachelor of Science from Eastern Michigan University. Damon was co-owner of D&D Barbershop in Farmington Hills, Michigan where he practiced his chosen profession as Master Barber and Creator of Smiles.

Damon committed his life to Christ at an early age. He was a student of the Bible and would preach the Word of God to anyone open to listening. He was best known for his humor, warm personality, and his loving heart. Damon had genuine empathy for those less fortunate, homeless, and downtrodden. He would often say, “I know I’m not perfect, but God knows my heart.” Damon’s genuine love of God, loving demeanor, and laughter would brighten the day of anyone blessed to truly know him.

His memory and legacy of love will live eternally through his loving parents, Bishop Ron and Dr. Georgette Braddock Frierson; three children, Aarion Taris Frierson-Jones, Ypsilanti, Michigan, Diamond My’Angel Frierson, Canton, Ohio and Nazir Slater, Columbia, Maryland; two grandchildren, Andre Ahkai Jones and Jayden Vicenté Jones; siblings, Ronnie Lamont Frierson, Los Angeles, California and Gina Michelle Frierson Reed; grandmother, Grace Braddock; two nieces, Kamille and Khloe Reed; nephew, Ronnie Frierson III; special aunts and uncles, Cheryl Frierson Nelson, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Brenda Thomas, Mary Dunn, Ruby Jones, Reverend Joyce Redfearn, Robert “Moe” (Armell) Woods, Norman Braddock, Bruce Frierson, Sheilda Braddock all of Saginaw, Michigan, Bregitte Braddock, Pelham, Alabama, Barbara McClellon, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Reverend Fredrick (Sheila) Braddock, Sr., Canton, Georgia, Reverend David Nelson, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Mildred Braddock, Southfield, Michigan; special cousins, Marcel Thomas, Rodney Thomas, Fabrian Thomas, Kenny Jones, Jason Jones, Derek Riley, Kila Thomas all of Saginaw, Michigan, Tracy Woods, Ypsilanti, Michigan, Danielle and Stephanie Nelson, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Bryan Daniel, Grand Blanc, Michigan, Michelle Bishop, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Yvette Tamlin, Westland, Michigan; God-siblings, Nequel Ford Oakley, Yolanda Erby, Rebekka Brown and Faith Kunrunmi; special friend, Avy Wyatt, Saginaw, Michigan; the New Covenant Christian Center Church Family and many more special relatives and dear friends too numerous to name.

Damon is predeceased by beloved family members including his grandparents, George Braddock, Jr., Harry Frierson, Jr., and Emma Jean Frierson; great-grandmother, Elizabeth Woods; aunts, Mamie Woods and Jeanette Daniel; uncles, Stanley Braddock, James Woods, Charles Braddock, George “Bull” Woods, Leroy “Skeet” Woods, Terry Braddock; cousins, Mike Woods, Tanji Taylor, Dionne Braddock, Deon Daniel, Robby Woods, Savoy Dunn, and beloved Maquetta S. Jones.
