Mr. Damus Lee Gardner passed away on November 6, 2014 from a lengthy illness. Damus was born November 8, 1959 in Prattville, Alabama to David and Ernestine Smith-Gardner.
Damus relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in 1979 where he resided until the Lord called him to rest. He was gainfully employed at Lutheran Social Services until becoming disabled. Damus was a devoted member of New Mount Calvary Baptist Church since 1980. He loved the Lord and he was not afraid to declare the goodness of God. He had a passion for cooking and feeding others, spending time with his family and friends and helping others. He enjoyed fishing until his health wouldnt allow it.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 31 years, Annie Works Gardner; one son, Armond Gardner; two grandchildren, Armontee and Amaianne Gardner of Saginaw Michigan; two brothers, David (Debra) Gardner Jr. of Prattville, Alabama and Stanley Charles Robert of Colorado; nephews, David Mikeal Gardner, Dennis D. Gardner and Daniel Gardner of Saginaw, Michigan; two nieces, Tina LaFaye Whitney of Virginia and Teara Baber of Saginaw Michigan; four aunts, Mary Frances Edwards, Ella Lee Johnson, Jessie Maude Harris and Julie Belle Lewis of Prattville, Alabama; two uncles, Willie Lee Gardner, Willie (Maggie) Smith of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; two nephews, Damus and Montae Gardner; favorite cousins, Betty Jackson and Kenneth Roberson of Saginaw Michigan; his mother-in-law, Pastor Mattie Lou Works; three sisters-in-law, Valerie (Terry) Noble and Natalie (Delbert) Harris both of Saginaw Michigan, Kathleen (Steadford) Samuels of Ajax Ontario, Canada; four brothers-in-law, Terry Works, Clinton Works, Charles (Targie) Works and Jake Campbell all of Saginaw, Michigan; many other nieces, nephews, cousins and his church family.
Damus was preceded in death by his parents, David and Ernestine Smith- Gardner, his grandparents, Jimmie (Jenny) Gardner and Molten (Rosie) Smith, two brothers, Dennis Gardner and Daniel Gardner, two sisters, Darlene and Diana Jean Gardner, his favorite aunt, Zeola Tyson, one brotherin-law Jimmie Works and one sister-in-law, Deborah Works-Campbell.
