Daniel Goodwine

July 8, 1942 — December 30, 2020

Daniel Goodwine was born on July 8, 1942 in Greenville, Mississippi to Mitchell and Alberta Goodwine. He was raised in the church and accepted Christ at a young age. At the age of nine, he and his family relocated to Saginaw, Michigan, where he attended Saginaw Public Schools.

In 1960, he met the love of his life, Annie Sue Cooper, whom he affectionately called “Sue.” Daniel and Annie united in holy matrimony on November 8, 1963 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage. To this union six children were born.

Daniel was a man of great work ethics. He believed that a man should provide for his family. He made his wife a promise, “If you take care of my babies, I will always take care of you.” For 57 years he stayed true to his word and our mother never had to work outside of the home. For 30 years, Daniel was employed as a relief man and sand mixer for General Motors Grey Iron Casting Plant and was a member of UAW Local 668.

Daniel was an avid lover of nature. He loved hunting, fishing, tending to his farm, and watching the leaves change color in the fall. He loved playing poker, going to the casino, building and fixing things, and most importantly being with his family and playing with the babies.

Daniel believed in speaking his mind. He would say his piece (whether you got mad or not), then he would kiss you on the forehead. Even though he liked nice things, Daniel was not a materialistic person. He would say, “If they tear it up, I’ll just buy another one.” He also instilled in his children, “l make money, money don’t make me.”

Daniel leaves to treasure his memories and preserve his legacy his wife, Annie Sue Goodwine; two sons and three daughters, Jeffrey (Kristine) Goodwine, Plymouth, Minnesota, Deanne (Sean) Galloway, Deborah Goodwine, Theresa (Rollin) Carter, all of Saginaw, Michigan and Daniel Jr. (Cynthia) Goodwine, Kentwood, Michigan; twenty-two grandchildren, Latrice, Tamara, Gregory, Tacara, Shacara, DeSae, Marques (Shaniquwa), and Anjaile Goodwine, Tiffany Miller, Briana (Darren) Hopkins, Rollin II (Artemis) and Travante Carter, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Devron Goodwine, Ron’Neisha Flowers, Tampa, Florida, Donzell (Lyntrell) Dixson, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jon Goodwine, Bay City, Michigan, Andre Goodwine, Midland, Michigan, Alexus Goodwine, Beloit, Wisconsin, Jeffrey and Bryce Goodwine, Roscoe, Illinois, Greorgia-Rae Cameron, Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario, Canada, Aaron Vischer, Bad Axe, Michigan; thirty-five great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosie Almond; five sisters-in-law, Barbara Hoskins, Emma Haines, Millie Stewart, Debra Clark and Carolyn (Anthony) Baber; two brothers-in-law, Charles (Linda) Stidhum, Nathan Cooper; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, including special friends Mike “Lil Rock” Ford, Country and Louis “T” McGee.
