Mr. Daniel Wells passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018, at his residence in Dallas, Texas following a lengthy illness. He was born October 25, 1954 in Saginaw, Michigan to James Houston Wells and Clara Passmore Wells.
Daniel attended Saginaw Public Schools and was a graduate of Saginaw High School, “Class of 1972”. He furthered his education attending Delta College, graduating in 1978 and continued on to Michigan State University, graduating in 1980. He proudly served his country enlisting in the United States Air Force (1972-1975) and then in the United States Army and Reserves (1981-2006) where he retired at the rank of Major. He also enjoyed his civilian career in management with MCI/Verizon, retiring in 2015.
On October 24, 1981, Daniel was united in marriage to Kim Cooper of Saginaw, Michigan.
Daniel was a dear friend to many, always staying in contact with old classmates, military and work colleagues, family and friends with regular phone calls and visits. However, for over 40 years, he cherished a special bond with seven very special men whom he considered his brothers to the end: Lamar Kimble, Emmanuel (BB) McGlothin, Angelous Guillory, Tony Saunders, Anthony (Ralph) James, Profit Lucy and James Moore.
Daniel’s hobbies included his love for working and tending to his yard and beautiful flower garden for which he often won awards for the best kept yard in the community. He was an avid Michigan State University alumni and his support and love for the Spartans was unwavering.
Daniel leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 36 years, Kim Wells; two sons, James E. Wells (Dallas, Texas) and Dimetri L. Wells (Saginaw, Michigan); his loving mother, Clara Wells (Saginaw, Michigan); mother-in-law, Catherine Cooper (Saginaw, Michigan); 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-laws and a host of other relatives and friends.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father, James Houston Wells and brother, Mark Drake and his grandparents.
