Our beloved father, Daniel Jerome Nash, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the age of 63 years. Daniel is known affectionately as “Jerry” by his family and close friends. He was born October 15, 1959, in Sunflower, Mississippi, to James Oldar Nash and Eunice Pearl (Robinson) Nash.
Jerry was raised in Saginaw, Michigan. He attended Saginaw Public Schools and graduated from Saginaw High School, Class of ’78. Daniel attended Grambling State University. In 1985, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of faithful and honorable service. Jerry continued serving his country as a Special Agent for the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), retiring from that position. Daniel was also a disabled Veteran from multiple deployments.
Jerry is survived by his son, Diandre Nash; daughter, Savannah Nash; two grandchildren, Jayden Nash, and Kendall Riley; life partner, Vanda Nash-Strode; four sisters, Cornelia Ann (Herman) Bush, Starkville, Mississippi, Joe Ann (Arthur) Harris Jr., Saginaw, Michigan, Barbara Richardson, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Renea Nash-Nichols of State College, Pennsylvania; nephews, Darryl Nash, Chicago, Illinois, and Rashaun Hill, Arizona; Robert James Taylor, and Travis Brown, Little Rock, Arkansas, Reginald Nash, Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Joseph Austin III, Saginaw, Michigan; niece, Danni Nichols, Gilbert, Arizona, and Eunice Troublefield, Saginaw, Michigan; sisters-in-law, Shirley Greene, Yvonne Sanders, Sharon Sanders, Beverly Lynch, Frances Shipman, Karen Sanders, and Michelle Sanders; brothers-in-law, Charles Brown and Don Sanders; a host of nieces and nephews. In addition, he leaves behind a wealth of intimate family and friends, including Billie Joe Nash, and Betty Nash and family of Saginaw, Michigan.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, James Oldar Nash and Eunice Pearl (Robinson) Nash, brother, James Nash Jr. “Bowie”, and a beloved aunt, Janie Drysden, of Chicago, Illinois.
The family would like to thank the University of Michigan Hospital and the Aleda E. Lutz Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In addition, the family would like to thank his military family from the USAF Security Forces and the various U.S. Federal Agents for the love and respect they have shown throughout his career.
