Daniel Andrew Welch passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021 at the age of 65 years. He was the third child born to Roosevelt and Lucy (Scott) Welch on May 23, 1955, in Saginaw, Michigan.
Daniel grew up in a Christian home and declared his faith in Christ at an early age at Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church. This foundation attributed to Daniel reading his bible daily, until becoming ill. He was educated in Saginaw Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1973. Daniel is a veteran of the United States Marine Corp., where he was honorably discharged after two years of faithful service.
Daniel received an Associate’s Degree from Delta Community College in Accounting and used his educational background to prepare income taxes for his family, friends and co-workers. He also attended Saginaw Valley State University in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. However, his life took a slight turn in events when he landed a job with the City of Saginaw Fire Department, where he earned the rank of Lieutenant.
Daniel enjoyed cooking and was a great cook (a gift he inherited from his father). It is no surprise that he worked in an environment using his talents. He was employed at the Brother Arthur’s Fish & More as a part-time cook. He was also a great conversationalist and enjoyed talking about current events and hot topics.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents Lucy and Roosevelt Welch.
He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter, Ashanta Danielle Welch, Saginaw, Michigan; one son, Terence Scott Welch, Savannah, Georgia; three grandchildren, Aaliyah, Zaniyah, and Da'Mareay; two sisters, Yvonne Bell, Saginaw, Michigan, Deborah Wright, Houston, Texas, two brothers, Aaron (Mary) Welch, Saginaw, Michigan, Ronald Welch, Grand Rapids, Michigan; nieces, Kimberly Williams, Houston, Texas, Neike Bell and Lakechia Welch, both of Saginaw, Michigan; nephews, Michael Lawrence, Jaime Antoine Bell Sr., Andre Welch, all of Saginaw, Michigan and Demetrius Wright, Houston, Texas; many other relatives and friends, including a special companion, Roshell Willams and his lifelong friend Victor Little.
The family would like to give special thanks and acknowledgement to the staff at the Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, the Miller and Jones families, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
