Darrin Pennington (Lansing)

Mr. Darrin Lamon Pennington passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021, in Fresno, California at the age of 56 years. He was the son of Samuel and Camelia Pennington, born in Chicago, Illinois on November 14, 1964.

Darrin and his family eventually relocated to Lansing, Michigan. He was educated in the Lansing School District and was a member of the 1982 Graduating Class of J. W. Sexton High School. After high school, Darrin attended Lansing Community College; he worked as a golf caddy at Lansing Country Club and worked at Bi-Lo Diaper Service. In 1984, Darrin enlisted in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge in 1988. His last duty assignment and major command was in Oakland, California. Darrin decided to make California his home. He developed a business partnership with his best friend, Kathleen Randall, they started Vanguard Security Services in Fresno, California. Darrin was a hard worker who always knew how to have a good time. He was kind and very generous, always helping the less fortunate. Darrin would travel back to Michigan to spend quality time with his family and close friends. He enjoyed good food, music, and classic movies especially watching them with his best friend and sister, Tamara. Darrin would cry for real when they watched “Imitation of Life”, “The Champ”, and the original “Sparkle” movies. Darrin loved his family. His kind and loving spirit will be greatly missed.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory parents, Samuel and Camelia Pennington; sister, Tamara Lynn Pennington-Brock; nieces, Tamara Brock and Chanel Pennington; nephews, Darrin Pennington and Jared Pennington; great-nieces, Ava Pennington and Aniylah DeMyers; great-nephews, Ramarion Pea, Devin Pennington and Ra-Mari Pea; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends including his best friends, Kathy Randall and his loyal canine companion.
