David Maurice Jones, best known to his family as D.J., passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Age 55 years. David was born on January 20, 1956 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was the third child of Henry Lee Jones, Sr. and Clara Blade Jones. David was a life-long resident of Saginaw, graduating from Saginaw Adult Education in 1975. A veteran of the Desert Storm Campaign, he served in the Army and Army Reserves from 1975 to 1994.
He is survived by his loving daughter and only child, Cherelle Sade Jones, his parents Henry and Clara Jones, an older sister Evelyn Jones Sykes (Anthony) of Alhambra, California; older brother Henry Lee Jones Jr. Peter (Debra) of Bay City, Michigan. His younger sister Anita Louise Jones Nicki predeceased him on May 4, 2011. His family legacy also includes an aunt, Bernice Jackson of Tyronza, Arkansas; a cousin, James Evans (Joyce) of Saginaw; nephews Jesse J. Davis Jr. and William Sykes; nieces Reena L. Meredith, Stephanie L. Jones, Alysia M. Jones, Sasha P. Jones and their families.
David was a quiet man of few words who expressed his thoughts and feelings through his artistic side, as evidenced by his pencil drawings and expressive collage collections. He worked at Audio Central Alarm, The Saginaw News and as a bus driver at Stars Transit. He loved bowling, and worked at refining his game every Tuesday at Le Fevre's Family Bowl with his DSP (David/Shane/Peter) bowling team. He was definitely a sports fan. His good friend Darin Millege said David loved the Detroit Lions and he was sorry that he did not live to see his team make the playoffs.
But most of all we should remember David for his kindness and generosity. He was a good person who loved his daughter and his family. He was a good son taking care of his blind mothers needs right up to the time of his illness. He will certainly be greatly missed by his family and friends.
