David Jones

David Orr Jones passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at University of Michigan Health System. Age 63 years. He was born December 24, 1949 in Paducah, Kentucky to James and Mary Jones.
David was a lifelong resident of Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Arthur Hill Tech High School on June 10, 1968. David Married Roberta Smith on August 2, 1969 and from this union two children was born, Aletha and David Jr. He began his employment with General Motors as an hourly employee and rose through the ranks to head of preventative maintenance and remained there until retiring on October 1, 1999 after 37 years of faithful service. David was also a member of UAW Local 455. He was the best amateur blackjack player. Even after he became ill, he enjoyed talking about playing the game. He was very political and would argue for hours over current events. His presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Roberta L. Jones; one daughter, Aletha L. Jones; one son, David O. Jones Jr.; two brothers, James E. Jones Jr. and Gary L. Jones; three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; special nieces, Julie Smith, Tasha Beverly, Niikeba Sammons; god-daughters, Ronda Jackson, Ramona Gill and Tomieka Lipsey-Peoples.
David was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Mary A. Jones.
