Our Father, David Tate was the youngest son of Walter and Pearl (Dawson) Tate. Born in E. St. Louis, Illinois, he grew up in the rural area of Hattiesburg, Mississippi with his grandfather, Will Dawson. Daddys mother Pearl died while he was quite young, so his memories of his mother were very minimal.
In 1943 daddy enlisted in the U.S. Army at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg, MS. He served in World War II and was Honorably Discharged as a Private First Class on June 14, 1943.
He leaves to cherish his memory, Mary (Leroy) Harrison, Nathaniel Tate, James (Sandra) Tate, Jesse L. Tate, Andrew (Lula) Tate, Corey Broxton, Saginaw, MI, Daisy Demerson, Fort Hood, TX, Minnie L. Godfrey, Nashville, TN, Gloria J. Tate-Reed, Dallas, TX., David Tate, Jr., Hattiesburg, MS., Addie Pearl Burrell, East St. Louis, IL; thirty-two grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren.
