DeAndre LaVern Jones "Deacon" (Lansing)

DeAndre LaVern Jones, “Deacon” made his heavenly transition on Sunday, November 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and fiancé, at the age of 55 years old. He was born on Saturday, August 16, 1969, the son of Julia Scruggs and Duane Miller in Lansing, Michigan.

DeAndre was educated through the Lansing School District. He was the firstborn grandchild of the late William Sr. and Anna Townsend. He loved spending time with his family and making friends. During his youth he enjoyed playing baseball with the Little Pirates team, where he was the pitcher. Going fishing with his grandparents and the neighborhood boys. A few of his other hobbies were playing cards (bid whist and spades), bowling, collecting baseball cards, and his pets. He loved his pets and was a natural at training dogs. Which later in life he professionally trained and breed dogs, mountain lions, and macaw birds.

DeAndre leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Deonna Jones (Thaddous Williams III); grandchildren, Deonesty Jones, Thaddous Williams IV, and Zoe Williams; fiancé, Krista Albers; siblings, Audra Miller and Tiffany Miller; stepmother, Diane Miller; stepfather, Randall Jones; 5 aunts, 3 uncles, many cousins, other relatives, and friends.

DeAndre was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Scruggs; stepfather, Roosevelt Scruggs, father, Duane Miller; grandparents, William, Sr. and Anna Townsend; and 3 uncles.
