Deano "Bata" Morel Buycks, Sr. (Lansing)

Mr. Deano "Bata" Morel Buycks, Sr. passed on April 23, 2021, at his residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 52 years. He was born October 9, 1968, in Lansing, Michigan. The son of Eleaszer Buycks and Annie Ruth Buycks.

Bata was raised in Lansing, Michigan. He attended J. W. Sexton High School and later received his GED in the United States Marine Corps. Bata served as a Marine from 1986 until his honorable discharge in December 1993. During this time, he entered a union with Anita Allen, and they were blessed with three children, Deano, Jr., Gabrionna, and Courtnie. Bata had such a free spirit. He was an excellent marksman, loved fishing, riding his bike, and could build or fix anything. He was truly a Jack of all trades. Dad loved to swim and made sure his children learned as infants. He also loved his sci-fi movies with his all-time favorite being “Aliens.”

He leaves to cherish his memory 2 daughters, Gabrionna Buycks of Cleveland, Ohio and Courtnie Buycks of Victorville, California; son, Deano Morel (Chadeia) Buycks, Jr. of Wilmington, Delaware; 5 grandchildren, Javell Brooks, Juelz Johnson, Jewel Johnson, Demi Buycks and Jasir Johnson; his parents, Eleaszer and Annie Ruth Buycks; 4 sisters, Emma Buycks, Telia (Vaughn) Sanders, Jackie Buycks, and Pinky Buycks; 6 brothers, Eleaszer Buycks, Jr., Joseph (Patty) Buycks, Julius Buycks, Stanley (Cindy) Buycks, Tracy (Theresa), and Tony (Kim) Buycks; 25 nieces and nephews; 2 aunts, Channie Mae Austin and Pinky Jean Jones; 2 uncles, James (Bernice) Farrow and Walter Farrow; many cousins, other relatives, and friends, including his girlfriend, Ayasha Qawwee and best friend, Eugene Baker.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Buycks.
