Debra Ann Spence

January 24, 1961 — July 29, 2013

Debra graduated from Greenwood High School, in Greenwood, Mississippi and furthered her education at several Community Colleges. Debra settled in Memphis, Tennessee where she was employed with the University of Tennessee Health Science and resided for 10 years until her health began to fail. She had recently relocating back to Lansing, Michigan. Debra was a very generous, giving person and would give her very last. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Debra was also a born-again ChristianShe leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Terry L. Spence; one daughter Essence L. Spence of Memphis, Tennessee, one step daughter Tiara P. Spence; three sisters Angela Denise Craft, Marilyn Cleo Craft, Kimberly Yvette Meeks; two brothers, Johnny Ray Birdsong, Carry Edward Craft; eleven nieces, four nephews; six aunts, four uncles; mother-in-law Nellie Spence, five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in- law and two special friends from University of Tennessee Health Sciences, and a host of cousins.Debra was preceded in death by her son Jason D. Spence; brother Michael Craft; sister Yolanda Craft Hough; grandparents; Lee and Jannie Birdsong, Leuur Mae and Cleophus Craft. The family wishes to express a special thanks to all family members and friends for prayers, phone calls and visits. Also a special thank you to the staff of Sparrow Hospice.
