Debra Davis (Lansing)

Debra Denise Davis was born April 15, 1955 in Memphis, Tennessee to Bettye Lou Watson (Bonds). She received her family nickname of “Peaches” from her grandmother because of her “peach-like” cheeks.

Peaches was a member of the first graduating class of the “new” Harry Hill High School in Lansing, Michigan in 1972. Peaches graduated from high school six months early, and then attended Michigan State University.

Peaches began her career with the State of Michigan, Department of Civil Service where she retired in January 2006. Although, Peaches enjoyed many positions throughout her career, one that was particularly near and dear to her were the years that she worked with Governor John Engler.

Peaches gave her life to Christ at an early age.

On Wednesday, May 15, 2019, Peaches accepted her crown in glory, after a late-night party with her three daughters! Peaches leaves to cherish her precious memories; her three daughters, Mashanda “Birdie” Davis, Latiya (John) Parker, and Ashlée Johnson; her four grandchildren, Raevyn, John Jr, Aaliyah and Jordyn; siblings, Jessie (René) Myles of Fraser, Patricia Myles and Chad Watson ; aunt, Jacqueline Bonds; uncles, William “Earl” Bonds and Rochelle “Sonny” Price Jr.; special friend, Anthony Johnson and many other family and friends.

Peaches was preceded in death by her grandparents, Solomon, Sr. and Minnie Bonds; parents, Roosevelt, Jr. and Bettye Watson; uncles, Solomon Bonds, Jr. and Jessie Bonds; aunt, Peggie Price and nephew, Michael Myles.
