An awesome and wonderful woman of God, Mother DeLois Lee Turner, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in Saginaw, Michigan. She was born March 23, 1938, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Cora and William Staves, the eldest of 4 children.
Delois relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in 1965. She and Roy E. Turner were married in 1965. Eight children were born into their union. DeLois loved the Lord, often referring to Him as her “Daddy.” She loved her family, and many of the people she met also became family to her. Mother has a host of sons and daughters. She loved family gatherings, cooking, playing cards, and other family games. Mother loved to tell you of her “Daddy’s” goodness and His plan for you. She was employed as a teacher’s aide for Saginaw Public Schools.
She leaves to cherish her memory 8 children: Rickey (Joyce) Staves of Crowley, Texas, Ronald (Barbara) Turner, Deborah (Kevin) Crawford, Darold (Kenya) Turner, Harold Turner, Vincent (Royce) Turner, Daphne (Greg) Butts, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Tammy (Carl) Cooper of Dallas, Georgia; 27 grandchildren, 4 special grandchildren: Travell Staves, Christopher Staves, Ericka Santos, and Ebony McGee whom she helped raise; 49 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; two goddaughters, Kimberly Gibson and Diane Bodiford; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; 2 special cousins, Lawrence and Rosa Staves; and a very special sister-in-law, Sharon Staves.
Mother DeLois Turner was predeceased in death by her parents, Cora and William Staves; husband, Roy E. Turner; brother, Harry Staves; two sisters, Barbara McHenry and Hattie Rhodes; a very special nephew, Rodney Rhodes; grandson, Travell Staves; granddaughter, Tynisa Staves, and her great-grandson, Ethan McGee.
