A Time to be Born

Denise was born Thursday, October 13, 1955, to her parents Alldean and Katie Jackson in Lansing Michigan. She was the seventh of 11 children. She was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Louis Ray and Martha Nelson, Oceola and Maime Jackson; mother, Katie Jackson; two brothers, Donald and Wilfred Hall; one sister, Francia Hall Pond; one sister-in-law, Rosemary Nelson; two grandsons, Javon "Poohker" and Jamie "LilQ"; one great granddaughter, Saphari and one great- grandson, baby LJ.

The Moment

Get to know my mother in this moment. Though we 3 have the same mom, we each refer to her as “My mom”. My mom loved music, slow jams played as we went to bed, gospel blasted as she cleaned; A clean house was her forte, house set prepped for a photo shoot. Our chores seemed to be filled with joy as the music made you move. She was into interior decorating and even completed a certification. Classy and sassy. My mom enjoyed shopping and dreamed of shopping, writing and reading. Her skills were offered in service to anyone in need, the cover letter, the follow up letter, the thank you letter, the character letter, and now nostalgic letter you take to the store to purchase cigarettes. But the greater light was experienced in poems and expressed in the passion for love - love of family and friends. My mom was a kindhearted lady, even when we had little, she always found a little more to create a care package for family and friends in need. The door was open if you needed a place to stay, someone to talk to or just needed to be reminded that you were loved.

Denise leaves to cherish her beautiful memory, her three children, daughter Tameca (Christopher) Johnson, son Chantwan (Erika) Jackson, and daughter Nakisha Morgan. Eleven grandchildren, LaDon, Da’Shawn “Day”, De’Asia “DD”, Chantiae, Chantwan Jr., Eliza, Armani, Giovanni Sr., Breil, Brittany and Sequoyia. Nine great grandchildren, Noah, Khloe, A’Don, Malachi, Michael, Deante’, Myella, Giovanni Jr., and Malik. Father Alldean Jackson who will miss her dearly. Sisters: Gina (Sam) Jones and Brenda (Lenardo) Battle. Brothers: Jessie Nelson of Lexington, Kentucky, Stephen and Louis “Joe”Hall, Monte and David Jackson all of Lansing, Michigan.

Special cousins/sisters: Kaye “Push”, Robin, Marsha Ruff, Claudette, Marinell, Maria, Christine, Nadine, and Sadie.

A Time of Departure

On Monday, September 18th, 2023, at the age of 67 years old, Denise 's work on this earth was completed and she went to be united with the Lord.

A Time to Rejoice:

She fought a good fight, she finished her course, she kept her faith. Henceforth there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give her at that day.
