Denise Young Chappell

Denise Young Chappell of Whites Creek, Tennessee formerly of Lansing, Michigan passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at her residence. Age 60 years.
Denise (Young) Chappell, a.k.a. "Niecey" was born July 18, 1952 in Decatur, Illinois, and departed this life on February 28, 2013. She was the ninth child (baby girl) born into a family of twelve, 8 boys and 4 girls to Theresa (Young) Leggions and Dan Young, Sr.
Denise attended Public Schools in Decatur, Illinois and Lansing, Michigan, where she graduated. She later obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. She was employed by Wherthan Bags and Spectrum while in Tennessee, and the Department of Corrections and Oldsmobile, in addition to other factories in Michigan.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Latina Young; two grandsons, Jolaun D. Young and Jayden D. Young, all of Whites Creek, Tennessee; six brothers, Icley Young, Albert Young, Oscar Young and James Leggions, Jr., all of Lansing, Michigan, Gary Young of Birmingham, Alabama, Elder Larry (Tonya) Young of Decatur, Illinois; three sisters, Georgia Bibbs Rogers and Alberta Young, both of Lansing, Michigan. Mable Grayned of Decatur, Illinois; two adopted brothers, Michael Edward of Lansing, Michigan and Eugene Allen of Birmingham, Alabama; many other relatives and friends including her special friend and sister, Virginia "Baby Sister" Williams-Bancay-Bangura and special niece, Theresa "Tina" Armstrong, whom she shared long-distance laughter, chit-chat and "sister-girl talk" daily until the end.
Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Theresa (Young) Leggions and Dan Young, Sr., brothers, Robert Muhammad and Dan (Danny) Young, Jr.
