Mr. Derrick Keith Holmes passed away Sunday, August 12, 2013 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper. Age 56 years. He was born April 15, 1957 in Saginaw, Michigan to Ellsworth and Susie Holmes.
Derrick was a 1976 graduate of Saginaw High School. After graduation he enlisted with the United States Army where he served a 6 year tour of duty. Derrick was a self-employed contractor who loved helping people with home improvements. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren were the apple of his eye. His presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Laytoya and Sherikia Johnson; one son, Derrick Johnson II; grandchildren, Armani, Keiondra, Tiana, Derrick Johnson III; one sister, Shirley (Eugene) Williams; one brother, Darnell K. Holmes; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Holmes; one aunt, Edna B. Drake; many other relatives and friends including his companion and special love for thirty years, Denise Johnson.
Derrick was preceded in death by his parents, Susie and Ellsworth L. Holmes; grandmother, Mary Thomas; grandfather, Lorenzo Thomas; three brothers, Harry, Ronald and Ellsworth Holmes; two sisters, Jacqueline Jones and Donna Holmes.
